“saratoga as i see it”

Post Nr. 668

About 40 years ago, Big Joe was shooting at the track, outside of the fence. The 1970’s was the greatest decade for championship horses. In that decade, he had the honor of shooting the last three triple crown winners in Lexington, Kentucky; Secretariet, Seattle Slew and Affirmed. Fast forward to 2010, he worked for the marketing department at the Saratoga Race Course and in 2011-2012, he was a freelancer for NYRA (which is what he will continue to do this summer). This has always been a life long passion of his. When shooting horses or shooting at the track, he is not interested in the typical sport shot, crossing the finish line, etc. He thinks others do it better. Joe is interested in capturing everyday Saratoga, as he knows it.

From JP: I could not be happier to share this blog with you all. The images my father captures from this special time of summer are just amazing. They’re all simply beautiful and capture Saratoga Race Course perfectly. Enjoy!

Here is a collection of amazing images that Big Joe has captured from the past 3 years, so please enjoy and get excited for the 150th season at the Saratoga Race Course!
